Find Out If You Have a Child Trust Fund Waiting for You

What Is a Child Trust Fund?

The UK government launched Child Trust Funds (CTFs) to help parents save for their children’s futures. They were available to those born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011. Each account began with a government deposit of at least £250, with many families adding more over time.

Who Can Access the Funds?

Once the child turns 16, they can manage their account, and at 18 it becomes theirs to withdraw or reinvest. HMRC reports that over 750,000 young adults haven’t yet claimed their matured accounts — each worth an average of £2,242.

How to Find Your Account

You can easily locate your Child Trust Fund using the official GOV.UK Finder Tool. You’ll just need your National Insurance number and date of birth.

“If you’re between 18 and 23, you could be sat on a savings payout and not even realise it. Just search ‘find my Child Trust Fund’ on GOV.UK to find your savings account today.”
